POLI 391 - Politics of Human Rights
Course Description
The syllabus can be found here.
This course is an advanced honors seminar designed to introduce students on issues related to human rights: what are they, who violates or protects them, and why. Our discussions will center primarily on three broad topics: 1) patterns of and explanations for human rights violations over time and space, 2) domestic and international solutions to protect human rights, and 3) redemption practices after human rights abuses. We will discuss both contemporary and historical issues in human rights, as well as how theory applies to current events and individual cases in the US and around the world.
